It is very useful when mediators engage periodically in individual or group follow-up continuous professional development programs, such as practice development review sessions (PDRS). This session will be conducted in small groups where participants share their experiences following their training skills development plans. At these sessions, participants can seek guidance and advice from ADR Center’s senior trainers concerning practical issues they have experienced in the interim. The workshop will be a fishbowl exercise organized around a complex case study, with participants changing their roles between parties, advisors, mediators and observers for what is supposed to be a full 360 degrees rotation around a full mediation process. The workshop will include peer review, discussions, and plenty of debriefing opportunities.
4 CLPD points will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
The goal is to develop the participants’ mediation knowledge and skills by offering access to an intensive practice development review session around the latest ADR Center 5×5 methodology for describing the mediation process.
Presentation of the ADR Center’s 5×5 methodology for describing the mediation process; Cultural aspects and ethical considerations in mediation; Preparing for mediation effectively (bilateral meetings) – short presentation related to the goals for mediators and goals for participants, the agenda of physical activities to be organized, practical strategies, skills and tools for mediators; Preparing for mediation effectively – role-play and debrief; the curriculum will include sessions with similar structures for the remaining stages of the 5×5 model Fact-Finding (opening joint session), Exploration (initial private sessions), Negotiation (later private sessions) and Resolution (closing phase). The curriculum will include an assessment component, and participants who will be able to share an anonymized log of 20 cases or 200 mediation hours which will be assessed at least with a level of 4 of a maximum of 5, will receive IMI Certification for experienced mediators, as per ADR Center’s status of a Qualifying Assessment Program for IMI Certification.
